On February 18, Navrocki stated that "chaos reigns in Europe," caused by the decisions of the "European elites" concerning Russian leader Vladimir Putin, which allegedly led to the war and Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
“The pact with Putin was signed due to the efforts of European elites and the current Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. For many years, Europe has been mired in subsidizing the Russian Federation, which unleashed war,” he added.
In light of this statement, Tusk addressed Jaroslaw Kaczynski — the leader of the Law and Justice party, which supported Navrocki in the elections.
“Jaroslaw, this is the last moment to change the candidate. If the Kremlin narrative does not become the official line of the 'PiS',” the Prime Minister stated.
However, Navrocki himself responded to the message. He said that Russia bears the responsibility for the war in Ukraine, but reiterated his accusations against Tusk and the "European elites."
Subsequently, the presidential candidate assured that the Prime Minister is mistaken about the "Kremlin narratives" in "PiS."
Within the party, it was stated that they do not intend to change the candidate and that "this desire is solely that of the Prime Minister."
Earlier, Polish presidential candidate Karol Navrocki declared that he does not see Ukraine in NATO or the EU unless it takes responsibility for the Volhynia tragedy of 1943.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to him, saying that if Ukraine does not gain membership in the security alliance, then Navrocki “needs to start training, because there may come a moment: he will have to take up arms [...]”.
His words sparked outrage among politicians of the Law and Justice party, from which Navrocki is running. They believe that his statement, along with a meeting with Navrocki's opponent in the elections, Rafal Trzaskowski, indicates Zelensky's interference in the upcoming elections in Poland.
Later, Navrocki promised to continue supporting Ukraine in the event of his victory.
