Trump: Zelensky aims to reach an agreement, but I’m uncertain about Putin's stance.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed skepticism about Russian leader Vladimir Putin's willingness to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine. However, he believes that Russia will face "significant problems" without such an agreement.
Трамп: Зеленский стремится к соглашению, но о Путине не могу сказать ничего определенного.

He stated this during a conversation with journalists in the Oval Office.

“Zelensky said he wants to reach an agreement. I don’t know if Putin wants this, but he should do it,” Trump believes.

He explains that Putin is “destroying Russia” by not reaching an agreement. According to the American president, without peace, Russia will face “big problems”: “Look at their economy, look at the inflation in Russia. I hope he wants to reach an agreement”.

Trump also mentioned that Putin is “not thrilled” about the war in Ukraine, as “everything is not going so well.” He reiterated the figures regarding casualties on both the Russian and Ukrainian sides in the conflict, stating that already a million Russian soldiers and 700,000 Ukrainians have died.

“Russia is larger, it has more soldiers to lose, but that’s not how you run a country,” the U.S. president added.

Previously, Trump had repeatedly stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would like to reach an agreement with Russia to “stop this madness.” He mentioned this specifically during a meeting with Trump in Paris.

Following that, the U.S. president remarked that Zelensky's desire for peace is “something new,” and that Russian President Vladimir Putin has already lost the war.
