The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, explained that new brigades are being formed in the army in response to the establishment of new military groupings in the Russian army.

He shared this information in an interview with the YouTube channel "Bombardir."

According to him, when the enemy is forming new divisions to open a new front on the battlefield, it is essential to have the forces to counter the adversary.

Syrskyi also noted that the creation of new brigades would allow for the rotation of fighters, making it possible to deploy more experienced brigades to the most critical areas of the front.

“This is not some whim, but a necessity. Because what is being created and the number of troops is calculated by the General Staff in response to the actual level of threats from the enemy,” the Commander-in-Chief emphasized.

Syrskyi added that since the onset of the full-scale invasion, the Russian army has doubled in size compared to the period before the large-scale war.

It is worth noting that in January 2025, journalist Yurii Butusov, citing his own sources, wrote that the Supreme Commander Volodymyr Zelensky ordered to halt the formation of new brigades and direct reinforcements to experienced and combat-ready brigades.

This occurred following the scandal involving the 155 OMBr named after Anna of Kyiv, whose servicemen were leaving en masse to SOCH.
