Over the past day, Ukrainian Defense Forces have eliminated nearly 2,000 Russian troops and destroyed 10 tanks, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In the past 24 hours, on January 9, the Russian army has suffered the loss of another 1,830 soldiers, both killed and wounded. Since February 2022, Russia's total personnel losses have reached 804,930 individuals.

Ukrainian Losses

On December 8, 2024, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that in the full-scale war with Russia 43,000 Ukrainian servicemen have died. At the same time, there are also reports of 370,000 instances of assistance provided to the wounded. According to Zelensky, 50% of the injured return to duty.

Previously, Kyiv did not disclose data on the losses among its servicemen. The Ministry of Defense stated that information regarding the number of fallen Ukrainian fighters would remain classified until the end of martial law.

According to estimates from the "Book of Memory of Those Who Fell for Ukraine" project, released in mid-November 2023, at least 30,000 Ukrainian fighters have died since February 24, 2022. Additionally, nearly 100,000 military personnel have been injured, but most of them were either on duty or were soon expected to return to service.
