This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Law enforcement officials did not disclose the name of the former deputy, however, a source from hromadske indicated that it concerns 48-year-old Oleg Kutsupal.
According to the investigation, the ex-deputy was spying on the Defense Forces — tracking the movements of Ukrainian military convoys and recording the locations of Ukrainian troops defending the border area of Sumy region.
To do this, he drove around the area in his car and took notes on locations. Additionally, he attempted to gather necessary information from acquaintances during casual conversations.
He sent this information to a personnel officer of the FSB in the Bryansk region (the SBU stated that it has already identified his identity and personal details). To disguise himself, the former deputy used the alias “Afanasiy.”
As noted by the SBU, in his agent reports, in addition to providing coordinates, he urged Russians to strike the city as quickly as possible, particularly targeting the buildings of TCK.
The ex-deputy was detained at his residence in Shostka. The agent was informed of the suspicion under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — treason committed under martial law. Currently, Kutsupal is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
