He urged leaders from various countries to act swiftly to support Ukraine and reinforce Europe’s security.
He proposed the following action plan:
“The security of Ukraine is part of European security. Let’s work together,” Nauseda emphasized.
It is worth noting that today, February 19, France is convening another meeting to discuss Ukraine and European security. This time, Paris has invited European countries that were not previously included, as well as Canada.
French President Emmanuel Macron on February 17 convened an informal summit of European leaders in Paris to discuss the situation in Ukraine and security on the continent.
European leaders are trying to persuade U.S. President Donald Trump not to rush into peace negotiations with Russia, Bloomberg reported.
Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares stated that the meeting would focus on how to prevent peace talks regarding Ukraine from resulting in rewards for Russian aggression. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico mentioned that the summit would also address the deployment of European troops to Ukraine after the war, writes Aktuality.
Earlier, on February 13, the foreign ministers of France, the UK, Spain, Italy, Poland, Germany, the EU, and Ukraine issued a joint statement amid discussions between Trump and Putin. The diplomats emphasized that Ukraine and Europe should be involved in any negotiations regarding the war.
However, U.S. President’s special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, stated that Europe will not participate in negotiations to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian war, although its interests are promised to be taken into account.
