According to the investigation, the sleeping bags did not meet technical requirements: the fabric composition did not match the declared specifications; the sleeping bags lacked essential components, such as a fleece lining and a layer of special fabric that is not breathable.
For this product, 30 million hryvnias were paid.
The director of the company has been informed of suspicion of fraud committed on a particularly large scale (Part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The penalty for this article provides for up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The military unit that received these sleeping bags has also filed a lawsuit for the recovery of a fine of 6 million hryvnias and the replacement of the sleeping bags with quality ones. According to the SBI, this claim has been fully satisfied.
The investigation is ongoing — law enforcement is examining the involvement of officials from the military unit in the criminal offense.
