Officials from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump discussed the potential suspension of military aid to Ukraine following Trump's public fallout with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

This is reported by NBC News citing unnamed officials from the administration.

At the same time, the publication claims it is unclear whether Trump will make such a decision and when exactly it might happen.

One White House official stated that “the ball is in President Zelensky’s court,” suggesting he needs to “come and fix” the disrupted negotiations with the U.S.

Other sources for NBC News indicated that the Ukrainian president met with senior U.S. officials out of a desire to gain more from the U.S., not realizing that political changes had occurred in the country.

“He (Zelensky — ed.) did not grasp the reality that a paradigm shift occurred with the elections on November 6,” one of them said.

Meanwhile, other Trump administration representatives stated that they were unsure what Zelensky could do to persuade the U.S. leader to resume negotiations. However, they believe that reaching an agreement between the U.S. and Zelensky is still possible.

What happened in the U.S.?

On February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Washington for his first meeting with American President Donald Trump at the White House. It was anticipated that Ukraine and the U.S. would sign a minerals agreement.

However, at some point during the meeting between Zelensky, Trump, and Vice President JD Vance, a dispute arose regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Vance stated that the war between Russia and Ukraine should be resolved through diplomacy. In response, the Ukrainian president mentioned that he had already signed an agreement with Putin in the presence of the President of France and the Chancellor of Germany.

Zelensky also remarked that if a poor agreement were signed between Russia and Ukraine, the United States would “feel it.” Vance and Trump were outraged and replied that they would be “just fine,” adding that Zelensky had no right to impose his opinion.

The Ukrainian president left the White House early, and the minerals agreement was not signed. Following this, Trump wrote that Zelensky is “not ready for peace”, but added that he “can come back” when he changes his mind.

Meanwhile, several world leaders took Zelensky's side, including French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
