In certain regions — Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Vinnytsia — alarms have been sounding for several hours. Subsequently, the alerts have spread to other areas.
Initially, the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported repelling an attack by Russian drones; however, later monitoring resources announced the takeoff of Russian MiG-31K aircraft, which are carriers of hypersonic "Dagger" missiles, and the launch of cruise missiles from the Black Sea region.
Additionally, the Air Forces recorded the takeoff of several strategic bombers, Tu-95MS, from the Olenya airbase in the Murmansk region.
Against this backdrop, explosions have been reported in various cities and regions of Ukraine. In particular, the mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, provided updates on the situation.
The local publication "Dumska" claims that due to the shelling, electric transport in the city is non-operational, and water supply has been turned off. Meanwhile, air defense systems are active in the Kyiv region, as reported by the regional military administration.
Later, the missile activity shifted to western Ukraine — in the Ternopil, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Explosions were also heard there.
Due to the shelling in the western regions of Ukraine bordering Poland, the operational command of the Polish Armed Forces announced the activation of military aviation. Combat pairs of aircraft, ground air defense systems, and radar reconnaissance have been deployed to monitor the airspace.
According to Ukraine's Minister of Energy, Herman Halushchenko, the Ukrainian energy sector has come under heavy attack. Measures are currently being taken to minimize the negative impacts on the energy system, but information about the extent of the damages will be available later.
In "Ukrenergo," it has already been reported that due to the massive attack, the volume of power outages will be increased. Information regarding these outages can be found on the official resources of the regional energy companies.
