It should be noted that Hungary's presidency in the EU Council began in June. At that time, Hungarian Minister for EU Affairs János Bóka presented the priorities of the presidency for his country — peace was not mentioned in any of the points.
Additionally, the slogan chosen for the presidency was "Let's make Europe great again" — which resembles the campaign slogan of the elected U.S. President Donald Trump and his favorite phrase.
After Hungary, Poland will take over the presidency of the EU Council: it will hold the position from January to June 2025.
