This is what Reuters reports, citing a statement from the G7.
The foreign ministers of the "Group of Seven" countries emphasized that they will continue to work together to achieve a peaceful agreement for Ukraine with reliable security guarantees.
At the same time, they agreed that any new additional sanctions against Russia should be linked to whether Russia will make "real good faith efforts" to ultimately end the war against Ukraine.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Russian leader Vladimir Putin wants to initiate peace talks to obtain relief from sanctions and regroup.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he would like to see Russia return to the G7. According to him, the exclusion of Russia from the "Group of Seven" was a mistake.
On February 12, U.S. President Donald Trump spoke on the phone with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.
Following that, he noted that he plans to visit Russia, while Putin is expected to visit the U.S., but before that, the politicians are anticipated to meet in Saudi Arabia.
Subsequently, Trump announced that soon American and Russian officials will meet in Saudi Arabia to discuss the resolution of the war. This meeting is scheduled for next week (February 17-23), and it will also include the Ukrainian side.
Zelensky stated that he will go to the meeting in Saudi Arabia, which was previously announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. However, the Ukrainian leader emphasized that he will not meet with the Russians there.
