Thirty-four drones were shot down over Ukraine, and the debris caused damage to the energy infrastructure.

On the night of January 16, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using 55 strike drones of the Shahed type, along with various types of decoy drones. A total of 34 of these drones were intercepted, while several others did not reach their intended targets.

This was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The occupiers launched drones from the directions of Millerovo, Orel, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia.

The air assault was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Forces, and Defense Forces.

As of 9:00 AM, the downing of 34 drones has been confirmed in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, and Mykolaiv regions.

Several UAVs struck a farm in the Chernihiv region, and as a result of the downed enemy drones, private homes were damaged in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions.

According to data from the Poltava Regional Military Administration, debris also damaged energy infrastructure in the area. In the morning, 301 households and 22 legal entities were without electricity.

Additionally, 18 enemy imitation drones were lost in location (without negative consequences).
