This is mentioned in the response from NABU to the request of the "Anti-Corruption Headquarters," which is available to "Slidstvo.Info."
NABU reviewed the appeal from the public organization regarding possible signs of illegal enrichment by the minister and has initiated an investigation into the provided information.
The agency clarified that if NABU confirms the unjustified acquisition of assets by Koval, the materials will be forwarded to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office to file a lawsuit for the recognition of such assets as unjustified and for their confiscation in favor of the state.
Journalists from "Slidstvo.Info" discovered that Vitaliy Koval declared that since August 2023, his wife has been renting an apartment in Kyiv with an area of 170 square meters. The entire family of the minister resides in this building.
The apartment is owned by the minister's mother-in-law, Halyna Baranyuk, who purchased it in July 2021 — that summer, such housing cost 17.7 million hryvnias. The woman apparently had no official income to support this purchase.
The minister himself stated that he is awaiting a professional response from the competent authorities and advised against discussing information obtained "somewhere and from somewhere," hinting at the material from "Slidstvo.Info."
