Kellogg compared Ukraine to a bleeding person, emphasizing that one cannot save their life without stopping the bleeding.
“There is a reality, and part of that reality is that we want Ukraine to be sovereign and free. To achieve that, we need to stop Russian aggression,” he noted.
According to Kellogg, this means that conversations with Russia will be necessary, “like it or not.” At the same time, he assured that the U.S. does not intend to appease the aggressor.
Furthermore, Kellogg described the previous administration's statement by Joe Biden that the U.S. would assist “as much as needed” as a slogan rather than a strategy.

Subsequently, Trump stated that American and Russian officials would soon meet in Saudi Arabia to discuss the resolution of the war. This meeting is scheduled for next week (February 17-23), and the Ukrainian side will also be part of it.
Zelensky mentioned that he will attend the meeting in Saudi Arabia, which was previously announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. However, the Ukrainian leader emphasized that he would not meet with the Russians there.
