The EU is preparing €6 billion in military aid for Ukraine ahead of peace talks, according to Politico.

The European Union is preparing a military aid package for Ukraine worth 6 billion euros to strengthen the country's position ahead of peace negotiations with Russia.

This is reported by Politico citing three EU diplomats.

The anticipated military aid package is expected to be one of the largest from the EU since February 2022 and will include a range of munitions and weapons — from 1.5 million artillery shells to air defense systems.

Two sources from the publication noted that the initial amount of 6 billion euros could potentially rise to 10 billion euros or even more.

According to Politico, EU foreign ministers will discuss the package on February 24 during their upcoming meeting in Brussels.

Countries may contribute resources or funds. Their financial input will be proportional to their gross national income, one of the diplomats stated.

Politico emphasizes that this significant military aid package will demonstrate the EU's determination to support Ukraine after the emergency meeting of European leaders in Paris on February 18 yielded no concrete solutions.

It is worth noting that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has stated that Europe is ready to provide security guarantees for Ukraine and invest more in its own security.
