On December 12, Drapaty discussed this at the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters, as reported on the social media of the Ground Forces.
The transformation promised by the new leader will focus on recruitment and military training, as well as the digitalization of processes within the army and management transformation.
Drapaty believes that the Ground Forces should become an "elite," which is why he has identified people, technology, and transparent management as his priorities.
According to the transformation plan, military training must be adapted to the needs of the front lines. This will require reforms in training programs and centers, as well as incorporating technology into the training process.
Additionally, Drapaty promises to introduce a transparent recruitment model within the Ground Forces with zero tolerance for corruption. The approach to social support for military personnel is also set to change.
Regarding technology, the changes will involve providing infantry soldiers with technological superiority over the enemy on the battlefield, while organizational changes and digitalization will be implemented in management processes for "maneuverability and efficiency."
On November 29, President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Major General Mikhail Drapaty as the new commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He is known for his role in the liberation of occupied Mariupol in 2014, and from May to September, he led the operational group of troops in "Kharkiv."
President Zelensky explained that he appointed Drapaty, along with the new Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleg Apostol, to reboot the training system for Ukrainian military personnel.
