“Let me be clear: the Ukrainian people deserve to live in peace and security, and the United States and the international community must continue to support Ukraine until it triumphs over the aggression of Russia,” Biden stated.
He noted that in recent months, the U.S. has provided Ukraine with hundreds of air defense missiles and “more are on the way.”
“I have ordered the Department of Defense to continue rapid deliveries of weapons to Ukraine, and the United States will tirelessly work to strengthen Ukraine’s position in its defense against Russian troops,” Biden declared.
On the morning of December 25, Russian forces conducted a large-scale missile attack on Ukraine. The Air Forces of Ukraine recorded 184 aerial targets from Russia in the sky, most of which were shot down.
The occupiers targeted Ukrainian energy facilities in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Zaporizhia regions. There have been damages reported. According to the Air Forces of Ukraine, one of the cruise missiles even crossed the airspace of Moldova.
DTEK reported that the occupiers shelled the thermal power plants of the company, causing significant damage to the equipment. “Ukrenergo” announced emergency power outages.
This year marks the thirteenth massive attack on Ukrainian energy and the tenth massive attack on DTEK's energy facilities. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, DTEK’s thermal power plants have been shelled more than 200 times.
